End of April

Apr 2015 Posted on Tue, April 21, 2015 16:52:59

Okay, so it’s not quite the end of April yet but I’ll still summarize everything I’m up to in this lovely spring month.

First of all, I wanted to say a huge thank you to the staff and students at Sir John Offley Primary School. I went to do a workshop there last week and I received a very warm welcome. My very own Box 1571 (see last post) was put to good use as the students used it to turn ordinary items into extraordinary ideas. A bowling pin was turned from a robot into a rocket and also a squid’s head! Thank you to them for sharing their fantastic creativity.

Then I went to Birmingham for our monthly SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) meet up to discuss writing and all things children’s books. Writing can be quite a weird process in that one minute you like what you’ve written and the next you don’t, and then you do again! It’s always useful to share ideas with others.

Then this Saturday, 25th April, I’ll be in Sandbach for the Craft and Vintage Fair, 11.30 – 4 at Sandbach Town Hall. There will be a range of different stalls and I hope some of you can pop by.

School visit preparation

Ta da! The before and after shots of my day spent wrapping a gigantic
cardboard box for my next school visit. Also attached: evidence of what
three hours of glue and black paper does to my hand. smiley
